Geotab introduces TÜV-certified solutions for sustainable fleet management.
At the Mobility Connect in Milan, the fleet telematics specialist Geotab presented its new suite of data-driven sustainability solutions. With this, they aim to address the numerous challenges faced by the transport sector as a provider of connected transport solutions. These include decarbonization, cost management, and performance improvement, including a Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report certified by TÜV Rheinland.
"Climate change is an acute problem that we must urgently counteract. At Geotab, we know exactly that it is not possible to manage something that you do not measure. Our new sustainability solutions help fleet managers track their emissions and fuel consumption using accurate data, manage the charging process for their electric vehicles, comply with reporting and compliance requirements, and set further goals for the future," says Edward Kulperger, Senior Vice President Europe at Geotab.
According to a recent survey by the provider on the perspective of fleets within the EU, the majority of fleet managers believe that their company will meet its emissions targets either on time for the deadline (44.5 percent) or even significantly earlier (31 percent). However, few participants (29 percent) consider CO2 emissions data as a metric when it comes to introducing telematics. With the new solutions, fleet managers can give sustainability a higher priority and thereby ensure that financial and time resources are invested in the areas that support them the most in achieving their goals. Thanks to the close partnerships Geotab maintains with a variety of leading automakers, most recently the Volkswagen Group Info Services AG and Stellantis, European fleet managers can use the sustainability solutions even with OEM-bound telematics. Data from OEM telematics devices in the vehicle is also accessible via MyGeotab.
The following solutions are now part of the platform:
- Geotab Sustainability Center: Optimize fuel, save energy, achieve higher performance In the Geotab Sustainability Center, fleet managers receive all the important information on how to reduce their emissions, save fuel and energy, and optimize the overall performance of their fleet. The Sustainability Center integrated into MyGeotab allows fleets to track their emissions and find ways to reduce them, for example by reducing idling times or electrifying the fleet. They also receive insights into avoided exhaust gases, total emissions produced, and fuel efficiency.
- TÜV-certified calculation method for greenhouse gas emissions: For more accuracy and transparency More than 50,000 European as well as 10,000 international companies will soon have to provide proof of their sustainability efforts according to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Therefore, it is all the more important that they have access to accurate, reliable data to ensure compliance. The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report from Geotab offers a reliable method for tracking the greenhouse gas emissions of fleet vehicles and automates the calculation of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2-eq). The CO2 calculation method of the Geotab Greenhouse Gas Report has been certified by TÜV Rheinland for measuring Scope 1 GHG emissions from vehicles. Additionally, telematics data provides real-time information on greenhouse gas emissions, eliminating the need for manual data collection and minimizing the risk of errors. The report supports compliance with the regulatory framework of CSRD (ESRS E1). To simplify the compliance process, reports can be generated that align with common ESG reporting frameworks such as CDP and Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
- Electric Vehicle Suitability Assessment (EVSA): Electrification at a Higher Level The introduction of electric vehicles presents a complex decision for many fleets. With Geotab EVSA, the company provides fleet managers with the argumentative basis for their own electrification. Based on real data, the tool lists the potential impacts on both the environment and finances. The latest version includes the Automatic-Vehicle-Type-Detection feature, which efficiently conducts vehicle selection and comparison. Moreover, Geotab EVSA creates an individual fleet electrification concept – including the suitable electric vehicles, taking into account performance requirements, preferred vehicle models and brands, as well as the availability of charging stations. With the help of the tool, which was awarded as Sustainability Product of the Year and received the SEAL Business Sustainability Award in 2024, fleet managers can make informed decisions regarding the electrification of their fleets.
- Charging Status Monitoring: Always Ready In order for electrification and decarbonization to progress, robust charging management tools and high-quality data are needed. Therefore, with Geotab's EV Charge Monitoring, fleet managers now receive a comprehensive and accurate insight into the current charging status of their electric vehicles – including a warning function to ensure they are charged and ready for use when needed. Utilization can only be improved if the charging process is optimized. If this is the case, operators can not only save on fuel costs but also benefit from the operational advantages of electrification.
