Geotab has announced a partnership with Volkswagen Group Info Services AG (VW GIS). The provider of connected transportation solutions sees collaboration with the strategic partner for multi-brand data products within the Volkswagen Group as an important step in extending its OEM network.

Utilizing Database

Built-in sensors collect vehicle-generated data from Volkswagen fleets, provided the fleet customers consent. On request, this data is transmitted to the Geotab platform via an application programming interface (API). The latter simplifies data collection and processing and provides critical insights without compromising data protection and security, according to Geotab. Additionally, it ensures that all information is sent and stored within a secure database. Thus, fleet operators retain control over this data.

The collected data supports, among other things, fleets in the areas of vehicle leasing and rental or last-mile delivery. Additionally, real-time decisions regarding productivity and compliance are possible in this way.

Optimize Fleet Performance

On a central platform, MyGeotab unites vehicle-generated OEM data from various automobile manufacturers – including the Volkswagen Group (VW, Audi, Škoda, Cupra, Seat), the BMW-Mini Group, Renault, Dacia, Ford, all Stellantis brands and Mercedes-Benz – as well as data from Geotab's own telematics devices. Additionally, analytics contribute to the implementation of various sustainability initiatives and the creation of CSRD reports (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive). This enables fleet operators to, for example, optimize routes, increase fuel efficiency, uncover electrification potentials, promote safe driving practices, and reduce idle times. Extensive insights from MyGeotab thus primarily help fleet managers to understand and optimize their fleet's performance.
