With the election of Mareike Rauchhaus from nextbike and Uwe Hüsch from assona Versicherungen to the board of Zukunft Fahrrad, the industry association aims to strategically reposition itself. The diversity of the bicycle industry should be even better represented by the leadership, not just by the members, than it has been in the past, according to a statement from Berlin. The association explained that the versatile expertise of the board ensures that the Zukunft Fahrrad team is well-equipped to meet the current challenges of the industry and open new paths. Mareike Rauchhaus has been leading nextbike's communications for almost 15 years and has helped build the company from a micromobility pioneer to a bikesharing market leader.

“I see the interests of shared mobility service providers very well represented. I also bring a female perspective to the board. To make mobility sustainable for the future, it needs to become more diverse at the planning, decision-making, and usage levels,” says sharing pioneer Rauchhaus.

As Managing Director of Sales and Marketing at assona, Uwe Hüsch is significantly advancing the development of new business areas and entry into new markets. He aims to contribute his expertise in insurance and leasing to continue the success story of the association.

"I want to give the bicycle the appreciation in mobility that it has long deserved," Hüsch explained.

Ulrich Prediger, founder of JobRad, was re-elected as Chairman of the Board. Dorothe Heine (Two Wheels Good), Dirk Zedler (Zedler Institute), and Peter Hürter (Fahrrad XXL) were also confirmed as board members. Jakub Kopinski (PuntaVelo) and Oliver Hagen (Lofino) have left the board.

“I am very pleased that with the election of Uwe Hüsch and Mareike Rauchhaus, we have gained two individuals with enormous experience in very different areas of the industry. This will further help Zukunft Fahrrad to make the bicycle economy heard politically in all its facets," explained Zukunft Fahrrad Managing Director Wasilis von Rauch.
