Funding for e-cargo bikes is on hold - Zukunft Fahrrad laments imbalance
The Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (Bafa) has temporarily suspended nine funding programs due to the spending freeze in the federal budget. These had previously been financed mainly by the Climate and Transformation Fund. In addition to the funding for heating networks, building energy consultations, the heat pump development program, serial renovations, climate-friendly refrigerants, or citizen energy societies for wind turbines, the funds for e-cargo bikes were also stopped. However, the programs for e-cars and the federal funding for efficient buildings are not affected by the application pause. With immediate effect, no more applications for the programs will be approved or accepted, the federal authority stated. Projects with already granted funding commitments can, however, continue to be pursued. The industry economic association Zukunft Fahrrad sharply criticized the funding stop.
Translated automatically from German."The structural disadvantage of the bicycle, as seen now in the unequal treatment during the budget freeze, is devastating. The funding for e-cargo bikes is being cut, while that for e-cars is not. This further cements the status quo. Such decisions hang like a leaden blanket over a sustainable and socially just transportation transition - all ambitions for climate and health are thus nipped in the bud," complained Wasilis von Rauch, Managing Director of Zukunft Fahrrad.
