Funding: 80 million euros for electrified heavy-duty and passenger transport
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) has launched a funding call aimed at advancing the electrification of heavy-duty and public transport. Funded projects include research and development initiatives that tap into the energy and climate policy potential of electromobility while simultaneously contributing to the strengthening of the competitive position of German industrial sectors.
From E-Axes to Charging Concepts
The focus of the call for proposals is on research projects related to innovative electric drives, battery and charging infrastructures, particularly for heavy-duty and long-distance transport, as well as associated systemic innovations.
This includes:
- Electric Road Systems
- Stationary charging concepts and technologies, especially for fast and high-performance charging
- Market-driven, grid-friendly, and bidirectional charging at the interface between the energy and transport sectors with a focus on applications in the heavy-duty sector/Electric Road Systems
- E-axes and electric drives, especially for long-distance heavy-duty transport, including system integration into vehicle technology and associated charging infrastructures
- Battery and storage technology for electric drives, especially for heavy commercial vehicles
- Components for electromobility, particularly in the heavy-duty sector
- Innovations that reduce production costs and times for electric vehicles and components for heavy commercial vehicles
- Solutions to adapt existing production environments for the transformation of the automotive industry
Apply until the end of September
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs is providing funding amounting to approximately 80 million euros for this purpose. Interested companies, regional authorities, public administration institutions, universities, or other research institutions can submit project outlines until September 30, 2021.
