The Hamburg-based car rental and taxi broker Free Now conducted a survey in September among more than 3,500 users in Munich and seven other major German cities to find out opinions on the fixed-price rides that have been possible only in Munich since early September 2023. The results are unanimously positive.

79 percent of respondents who have already tested the Munich offer stated that they rate the new offer as good or very good. Three quarters of respondents in Munich wanted to test the offer soon. Respondents from other major cities are 91 percent in favor of introducing a fixed-price offer in their region as well. Overall, 84 percent said a fixed-price offer could contribute to the attractiveness of taking a taxi. About 46 percent justified their positive attitude towards fixed prices by saying they would no longer have to worry about traffic-related higher fares.

According to Free Now, approval for fixed prices is particularly high among the frugal people of Stuttgart. Hamburg, Cologne, and Frankfurt follow closely behind with approval ratings of more than 90 percent each.

Free Now is a joint venture between the BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz Mobility.
