Formula E: ROKiT Venturi Racing collaborates with Maserati
Maserati is preparing to debut as a partner of ROKiT Venturi Racing in the ninth season of the FIA Formula E World Championship. On the occasion of the Rome E-Prix, both companies announced a long-term partnership. This makes Maserati the first Italian brand ever to participate in the Formula E World Championship from 2023 and to debut in the starting field with the new Gen3 vehicle – the fastest, lightest, and most powerful Formula E single-seater of all time, boasting a wealth of innovations in design, manufacturing, and engineering. Davide Grasso, CEO of Maserati, commented:
“Returning to motorsport in Formula E was a logical decision for Maserati. What drives us are passion and innovation, and we are pleased to have a partner by our side on this adventure who shares these values with us and, like us, looks to the future with optimism. Determination and the desire to compete and win on racetracks worldwide are what unite us with the ROKiT Venturi Racing team.”
Scott Swid, Chairman & Managing Partner of ROKiT Venturi Racing, said:
“The partnership with Maserati on the Gen3 vehicle is wonderful news, a stroke of luck for the team, for Maserati, and for Formula E. But above all, it is fantastic news for the fans who will now witness the return of an iconic brand to the top league of motorsport. This not only creates a solid foundation for our long-term future in Formula E but also represents one of the most exciting stories in international sports – a prestigious brand enters the most progressive and fastest-growing category of motorsport and returns to its roots.”
Susie Wolff, CEO & Managing Partner of ROKiT Venturi Racing and wife of Mercedes Motorsport boss Toto Wolff, added:
“The connection with Maserati marks the beginning of a new chapter and is the optimal next step for our team following our successful partnership with Mercedes. That one of the most renowned motorsport brands has chosen us as a partner for their return to international single-seater racing underscores how successfully we have presented ourselves in recent seasons. In recent years, we have sustainably established ourselves as an economically successful team capable of winning races and competing as a serious contender in world championships. With this commitment, the team is in a fantastic starting position for the next generation of Formula E competitions from 2023.”
Jean-Marc Finot, Vice President of Stellantis Motorsport, comments:
“We are excited about the Formula E partnership between Maserati and ROKiT Venturi Racing, one of the most competitive teams in the championship. Being able to rely on Venturi's enormous know-how is a real asset for Maserati. We are convinced that Maserati's design expertise combined with Venturi's racing skills and experience will produce an extremely powerful result. Our shared DNA and passion for performance are what connect our teams.”
Maserati also took the announcement of the partnership as an opportunity to present the electric versions of the Grecale and the GT, called “Folglore,” at the E-Grand Prix in Rome.
What does this mean?
From Mercedes-Benz to Maserati: this means that the racing couple Wolff will now be working for two fundamentally different automobile companies. The starting position for Maserati is good – eRockit is among the strong teams and they have many new cars in the pipeline.
