Antonio Felix da Costa was able to repeat his success from Berlin in Portland – and he did it twice! He won the 13th and 14th races in the USA, with the second triumph involving a few dramas for many. But in the end, it was clear: with this third victory in a row, da Costa equaled his own 2019 record and achieved the longest winning streak in Formula E history.

The championship will again be decided in the final races in London

The 14th race did not go as well for Nick Cassidy, the current world championship leader of Jaguar TCS Racing. He suffered another devastating setback by failing to score points for the second consecutive time. The advantage: it remains exciting until the last race! Mitch Evans and Pascal Wehrlein are now tied for second place, setting the stage for an intense duel at the upcoming final in London. António Félix da Costa subsequently stated:

“This is crazy. I am happy, emotional, angry, everything. I’m just glad I can ride this wave right now – I know it doesn’t last forever. I've been in, I've been out, so I'll just try to do things right. I will enjoy this moment. Many people in this world live by the motto of never giving up, but honestly, I think we are taking this motto to a whole new level!”

Robin Frijns also stood on the podium for the second time this weekend, celebrating his 100th Formula E race with two podium finishes for Envision Racing. Mitch Evans from Jaguar TCS Racing secured the third podium place and salvaged a few points for Jaguar.

Time and again: Small and large dramas on the racetrack

But this race was also marked by dramatic moments, including Pascal Wehrlein's early front wing loss. Despite this setback, Wehrlein finished fourth, keeping his championship hopes alive.

For Neom McLaren and Mahindra Racing, the race was less fortunate, as both teams faced a series of retirements due to errors, tire punctures, and track collisions.

Strong form improvement: Abt Cupra was never this good

Jean-Éric Vergne, starting from pole position, secured a solid fifth place for DS Penske. Nico Müller from Abt Cupra delivered an impressive performance, finishing sixth and earning valuable points for his team. The two races on the high-speed course in Portland were characterized by strategy, optimal timing of the so-called Attack Mode, and finding optimal energy and temperature management. Abt Cupra demonstrated perfect teamwork both in the pit and on the track, maintaining a cool head despite temperatures around 30 degrees. Nico Müller scored confidently twice, even leading the races on both Saturday and Sunday at times. Lucas di Grassi finished eleventh on Saturday and supported his teammate on Sunday. However, even here a small drama: a 5-second penalty after a collision rendered the points void. Nevertheless, Thomas Biermaier, Abt-CEO and team manager, was satisfied:

“This was a good and important weekend for our team with the highest points haul since we returned to Formula E at the beginning of last season. Team and drivers worked together perfectly, giving everything for a good collective result – exactly as it should be. Now we are looking forward to London, where we expect completely different races and where time trials will again be more important than recently in Shanghai or here in Portland. Nico and Lucas have often proven that they can make it into the duels and the front rows of the grid, and that must be our goal for the final weekend.”

Norman Nato finished the race in seventh place for Andretti, followed by Maximilian Günther for Maserati MSG Racing in eighth place. Sébastien Buemi, despite a penalty, reached ninth place for Envision Racing, ahead of reigning world champion Jake Dennis, who rounded out the top ten for Andretti Formula E.

With a view on London, the battle for the top position is more intense than ever and promises fans an exciting end to the season. The Hankook London E-Prix double-header as the season finale takes place on July 20 and 21.

Once again celebrities were present at the track: Sung Kang, well-known actor and car enthusiast, best known for his role in the "Fast and Furious" series, returned to the Portland International Raceway for round 14 of the double-header weekend. Kang was delighted to reunite with driver Lucas Di Grassi in the ABT garage, rekindling their camaraderie from the 2024 Tokyo E-Prix. Kang also met his friend and influencer Emilia Hartford.

Three-time W Series champion and Andretti Global INDY NXT driver Jamie Chadwick also attended. She supported her colleagues from Andretti Global and served as a driver analyst for the broadcast team. Chadwick delivered an electrifying performance by driving the GEN3 Formula E car for the first time and reaching speeds of over 150 km/h. She also impressed by taking racing legend and Andretti Global team owner Michael Andretti for a hot lap in a Porsche Taycan.

What does this mean?

Formula E continues to have the advantage of being more exciting than Formula 1 – as this season also remains undecided until the last race!
