The commercial vehicle manufacturer Ford Pro achieved a market share of 15.0 percent in the light commercial vehicle segment in Europe last year (2022). This marks the eighth consecutive year that the brand has been the European market leader, excluding Turkey. This is a new record in the industry. Hans Schep, General Manager, Ford Pro Europe, attributes this success to the attractive product portfolio that includes software, service, and charging offerings for all-electric transporters.

In Germany, a total of 54,700 Ford commercial vehicles were newly registered last year (2022), corresponding to a market share of 11.8 percent (2021: 11.6 percent). This includes 7,700 units of the Ranger pickup model (+ 5.1 percent compared to 2021). The Ranger achieved a market share of 44.2 percent (+ 8.7 percent) in its segment in Germany and was once again the undisputed pickup market leader. In terms of numbers, the Transit was the best-selling Ford commercial vehicle domestically last year.

E-Transit well received

The all-electric E-Transit got off to a good start in Germany, with 800 newly registered units by the end of 2022. Compared to the previous year (2021), Ford Pro was able to increase its market share not only in Germany (+ 0.2 percentage points) but also in ten other countries: France, Greece, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Spain, and Turkey. Claudia Vogt, Director of Ford Commercial Vehicles for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, pointed out in this context that Ford will offer all its commercial vehicles in Europe as either fully electric model versions or with plug-in hybrid drives starting in 2024.

By 2030, electrified variants are expected to make up two-thirds of the commercial vehicle sales figures for the brand in Europe, according to goals. Vogt also emphasized that Ford Pro is not just a vehicle but a comprehensive sales and service concept, aimed at industry customers of all types and sizes with a broad range of practical services – from software to charging to financing – provided from a single source and starting with the delivery of the Ford commercial vehicle to the customer.

Ford Transit Custom most sold one-ton transporter in Europe

The Transit Custom was once again the best-selling one-ton transporter in Europe last year and also the best-selling vehicle overall in Great Britain. In Great Britain, Ford maintained its market leadership in the light commercial vehicle segment for the 57th consecutive year. The Ranger pickup series – the next generation of which is set to launch in the coming weeks – also maintained its market leadership last year and is the most popular pickup in Europe for the eighth consecutive year.
