Ford E-Transit: Gold Rating from Euro NCAP for Standard Driver Assistance
The independent Euro-NCAP organization has awarded the new Ford E-Transit "Gold" for its driver assistance systems. These were analyzed in proximity to parked vehicles, in slow traffic, and during sudden braking of a vehicle ahead. The effectiveness of the systems was also tested in situations where a child runs into the street or when cyclists and pedestrians enter or cross the street. All tests were carried out under controlled conditions by trained safety experts.
Multiple Assistance Systems
The driver assistance systems of the E-Transit include – depending on the body style and equipment variant – active emergency braking assistant with pedestrian detection, intelligent speed control with traffic sign recognition, blind spot assistant with cross traffic alert, lane keeping assistant with drowsiness alert, and high-beam assistant. They are supplemented by lane change assistant, park pilot system, surround camera, and a reverse emergency braking assistant.
Electric Model Catches Up
The E-Transit and the diesel versions are currently the only commercial vehicles in the 2-ton payload segment that have received a Gold rating from Euro NCAP. The combustion engine models had already received the rating in December 2020. The Ford Transit Custom, positioned in the 1-ton payload segment, is also already a Euro NCAP Gold winner.
The advanced driver assistance systems of the E-Transit help to minimize driver strain in everyday work. In addition, these technologies can reduce downtime as well as repair and insurance costs. (Stuart Southgate, Director of Safety Engineering at Ford Europe)
Customers in Germany can order the E-Transit now. It is offered in the equipment variants "Base" and "Trend". With the market launch in May, the E-Transit will be available as a van with single and double cab and as a chassis with single cab.
Important Part of Ford Pro
The E-Transit is an important part of Ford Pro, the company's new global sales and service offering. As such, every E-Transit is integrated into the vehicle management system FordLiive, part of the new productivity offering for optimizing the uptime of connected Ford commercial vehicles. This free service is designed to reduce service-related downtime by smarter and more efficient management of necessary maintenance and repair work, facilitated by the FordPass Connect modem integrated into the vehicle.
