Premiere at FlixBus – starting January 1, 2022, the long-distance bus station in Frankfurt will be the first long-distance bus station operated by the Munich pioneer itself. The flagship project in a prime location boasts excellent connections to local and long-distance public transport. From 14 bus platforms, up to several hundred buses depart and arrive daily during non-pandemic times, alleviating traffic around Frankfurt's main train station. Since the opening of the long-distance bus station in April 2019, FlixBus has been able to gather diverse experiences as an interim operator regarding the operations there – now a long-term lease agreement has been reached with the owner CA Immo.

“With its central location, the long-distance bus stop in Frankfurt is already a prime example for other cities. To ensure that more and more people travel sustainably by long-distance bus, modern infrastructure at the stops is essential. We are setting a good example in Frankfurt,” says Fabian Stenger, Managing Director of FlixBus DACH.

More Comfort for Passengers

Under the new name FernBusTerminal Frankfurt, the local infrastructure is expected to become even more passenger-friendly next year, according to the long-distance bus provider's press release. CA Immo plans to build a roof over the bus terminal, designed as a resource-conserving wooden structure. According to FlixBus, the total investment by the owner in the long-distance bus station amounts to around 7 million euros.

Additionally, FlixBus aims to expand the FernBusTerminal with further service offerings for travelers. In the coming months, a waiting area with restroom facilities is to be established, displays at the bus platforms are planned, and the long-distance bus provider intends to launch new software for more efficient slot management.
