Fiat 500 is the electric best-seller in January

While many manufacturers like Audi, Volkswagen, and Smart have recently withdrawn from the small car segment, the Italian manufacturer Fiat is celebrating a double success for its 500 model. In January 2022, the all-electric small car from Stellantis' subsidiary was not only the best-selling electric car in Germany, chosen by 1,261 buyers. The Fiat 500 model family also topped the registration statistics of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) for the entire small car segment, which has been experiencing a gradual decline for several years while the SUV class is booming.

The new Fiat 500 has a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of up to 42 kWh on board, which is said to enable a range of up to 458 kilometers in city traffic. A fast-charging system is standard, offering a charging power of up to 85 kW, enough to provide 50 kilometers of range after five minutes of charging time. The battery is 80 percent charged in just 35 minutes. Depending on the model variant, the electric motor delivers 70 kW (equivalent to 95 hp) or 87 kW (118 hp).
