The Dutch fast-charging network operator Fastned has presented a balance sheet for the last quarter and the entire year 2023 and sees itself continuing on an upward trend. In the fourth quarter of 2023, it consumed a record amount of 32 GWh of renewable energy at its stations, which represents an increase of 79% compared to the previous year and is more than half of what was delivered in the entire year 2022. Revenue from electricity sales increased by 44% in the fourth quarter of 2023 to €19.2 million, a lesser increase than that of the energy sold, as prices were higher last winter due to the then-occurring energy crisis. The company aims to continue driving the transition to cleaner mobility. Thus, in the last quarter of 2023, the Dutch opened 19 new stations, including the first one in Denmark. Over the entire year, 55 new stations went online.

Another premiere this quarter was the opening of our 39th German station in Düren, where we became the first company to open a station as part of the significant "Deutschlandnetz" tender. Throughout the quarter, the provider recorded almost 1.3 million charging sessions and generated 19.2 million euros in charging revenues. Additionally, the company highlighted the awards received for the best charging concept, which they won for the second consecutive year in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, as well as the record amount of 31 million euros in new bonds issued to investors during the reporting quarter.

At the same time, the company announced the signing of a contract for the construction of its first fast-charging station in Spain and stated that six more stations are secured. Spain is the ninth country in which the provider is represented. The expansion into Spain will help achieve the goal of establishing 1,000 stations across Europe, the HPC specialist is convinced. The first charging station will be located on the A42 in the Madrid region and will have 8 charging points, each with a capacity of up to 400 kW.
