Faraday Future: Market launch on 6 June 2023
Faraday Future does not give up. On June 6, 2023, they presented their factory, vehicle, and technology in an almost two-hour event. And with that, the first cars are actually supposed to be built and sold, and Faraday Future fan Rem D. Koolhaas is set to be the very first user of the FF 91 2.0 Futurist Alliance. Rem must really be a fan because the FF 91 2.0 Futurist Alliance now costs $309,000, which is about 290,000 euros – quite a lot compared to BMW, Lucid, or Mercedes-Benz EQS.
For that price, you get three motors that can mobilize up to 1050 HP and 1977 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) is supposed to be completed in just 2.27 seconds, according to U.S. values with a slight roll-off. According to EU sprint standards, this would likely become 2.5 to 2.9 seconds. Still quick. In addition, it offers the "largest interior among ultra-luxury vehicles with a similar wheelbase" and a Zero-Gravity seat with the industry's largest tilt angle of 60 degrees, bringing top-notch comfort to the road.
Faraday's perhaps last and only USP: Hardware and software are separated
The next-generation technology architecture, the "FF aiHyper 6x4 Architecture 2.0," powered by FF AI, is supposed to enable the FF 91 2.0 Futurist Alliance to recognize its users' habits, continuously learn, and evolve. Through the "3rd aiSpace," users can enjoy unique comfort and pleasure. With the help of Web 3.0 technology, FF has developed a system that separates software and hardware, enabling vehicle users for the first time to truly own the software as an asset.
Lifetime updates - but for 14,000 euros annually?
At launch, you can also optionally order a special model limited to 300 units. The Alliance Futurist Edition can now be pre-ordered in China and the USA for a $5000 deposit. The service package “FF aiHypercar+” with updates and connectivity functions is supposed to cost $14,900 annually (which is just under 14,000 euros).
Delivery is supposed to start in three phases: The ultimate start date would be today, on June 6, 2023, according to U.S. time. The "Industry Experts" must pay the full price immediately and will be the first to be delivered. Then, those who paid a $5000 deposit will follow, and then... they remain open for phase three.
Additionally, FF mentions an "Ultimate AI TechLuxury Eternity Plan," which supposedly translates to "lifetime updates" - this is set to be released at the end of 2023. But why not at the launch of the car? And Europe? It’s also not really on the plan for now…despite this, YT Jia, FF founder and CPUO proudly explains:
"I am pleased that the FF 91 is now under contract with our first customer and that we are making further progress in the first phase of our delivery plan. The FF 91 was conceived six years ago and we have continuously improved our vehicle since then."
What does this mean?
No start-up has been declared dead as often as Faraday Future - and none has fought so persistently for survival over nine years. So now, one can finally be excited to see if "Fan" Koolhaas will really receive his car as the first customer on June 6, 2023, and how many will follow him? We’ve already "live" witnessed a faked "production start" with a few individual customers – at Lightyear, where there were already many customers for the Lightyear One... By the end of June, we should know more. Because even if the car still looks wild: Its many years of improvement and development are already somewhat apparent...
