Companies from the commercial vehicle sector were eligible to apply for the European Transport Award for Sustainability 2022, which recognizes those who combine economic success with social responsibility and environmental conservation in an award-worthy manner. Their sustainable actions lead to further growth and prosperity. This year, 15 winners were honored in 15 categories.

The European Transport Award for Sustainability has been awarded every two years since 2011 for the following year by the newspaper Transport and the HUSS-VERLAG. The winners of the competition range from large corporations in the commercial vehicle and supplier industries to typical medium-sized companies and startups. This year's winners come from the commercial vehicle and supplier industries, as well as the software sector. The fact that 60 applications were submitted this year, more than ever before, shows that the issue of sustainability has finally arrived in the industry. It has become an integral part of business operations in many companies. Whether in the development of new products or services, in dealings with employees and customers, or through external engagement for citizens and aid projects: environmental protection and social responsibility have become important pillars of economic success.

However, it was not only the quantity but also the quality of the applications that stood out positively. "Often it was really difficult to decide who was the better candidate," says Transport editor-in-chief Christine Harttmann, a member of the jury for the European Transport Award for Sustainability 2022. Accordingly, the evaluations of the applicants were closely clustered. Usually, only a few points separated the first and second places.
