Euronics/Aiways: New app and charging card with Maingau Energie
The electronics retailer and Aiways distributor Euronics Deutschland eG and Maingau Energie have started a cooperation in the field of charging infrastructure. As part of the collaboration, every buyer of an Aiways U5 and also every customer will receive a charging card for unlocking more than 200,000 charging points across Europe free of charge after registering in the app. The card is linked to an associated charging app called "EURONICS Energy+", which was also developed in cooperation with Maingau. In addition to live information on charging point availability, a direct charging function, and an overview of all charging processes, it also offers navigation to the charging station, which can be initiated with the app’s own navigation system or through external navigation apps. Additionally, the provider promises the lowest charging electricity prices in Germany with this solution. Since autumn 2020, they have been the first and only electronics retailer in Germany to sell the new, fully electric U5 SUV from the Chinese automobile manufacturer Aiways. The partnership with the nationwide energy provider is considered the next step in the cooperative group's e-mobility strategy.
"When purchasing a new electric car, buying the car is not enough. When, how, and where the vehicle can and must be charged is still not as intuitive and widespread as going to the gas station. Through this cooperation, we are taking an important step to further simplify the charging process. Our aim is to offer the entire range of services and advice on the topic of e-mobility in local electronics retail," explains Philipp Neuffer, e-Mobility Project Manager at EURONICS Deutschland eG.
The app can be downloaded for Apple and Android devices in the App or Play Store at no additional cost. An important additional customer benefit of the EURONICS charging app, namely the conversion of in-store sales into charging credits, is already being prepared for the coming year.
