The Karlsruhe-based energy provider EnBW has put 84 new fast charging points for electric cars into operation. This means that the nationwide EnBW HyperNetz now includes significantly more than 6,000 charging points. The five new fast charging parks are located in Mitterteich (Bavaria), Münchberg (Bavaria), Ingolstadt (Bavaria), Dorfmark (Lower Saxony), and Bensheim (Hesse). This is intended to bring improvements for electric car drivers, especially on long-distance trips. As usual, the five fast-charging parks are equipped with HPC charging points (High Power Charging). In Bensheim and Dorfmark, 24 vehicles can charge simultaneously. The location in Münchberg is equipped with 16 fast charging points, while Ingolstadt has 12 and Mitterteich has eight new HPC charging points available.

All new fast charging points meet the highest performance class and enable charging with up to 400 kilowatts. Depending on the vehicle's capacity, this can provide a range of up to 400 kilometers with a 15-minute charging stop. The locations can be retrofitted with additional charging points if demand increases. Each of the fast charging parks also includes a canopy with an integrated photovoltaic system, which will be installed in the coming weeks. As with all their fast charging points, the company operates the new locations with 100 percent green electricity.

"With the 84 new fast-charging points, we are already making a significant statement for the mobility transition at the beginning of 2025," advertises Volker Rimpler, Chief Technology Officer for E-Mobility at EnBW.

He sees another milestone reached with now 1,500 locations and over 6,500 charging points. The fast-charging points are no longer just found on long-distance routes but increasingly in city centers and at retail locations. By the end of the decade, 20,000 simultaneously usable fast-charging points are planned.
