EnBW launches AutoCharge at its own charging stations
The Baden-Württemberg energy company EnBW has introduced the AutoCharge function to further simplify the charging process. This eliminates the need to start via app or charging card; the vehicle is connected to the charging station, and the charging process starts automatically, in the selected EnBW charging tariff and without additional costs. This has been possible since November 2021 at over 1,400 EnBW fast charging points nationwide in the EnBW HyperNetz, aiming to offer Germany's largest Plug&Charge HPC network. To use AutoCharge, customers only need to activate the function once in the app. AutoCharge is available for all electric cars except for vehicles from Volkswagen, Skoda, and Seat, where the function is currently not enabled by the manufacturer.
“The question of whether fueling or charging is easier is now off the table. I don't have to drive somewhere specifically for it, like with fueling – and then wait until the tank is full, go inside to pay, and so on," says Timo Sillober, Chief Sales and Operations Officer in the E-Mobility sector, expressing his excitement about the new function.
The own app directly shows whether a charging point is compatible with AutoCharge during the location search. For an overview of which locations offer the function, there is also a filter in the app. AutoCharge charging sessions are ended as usual via the app, at the charging station, or in the vehicle. The charging sessions are displayed live in the application as usual. Customers also receive their billing through the app as before.
