EnBW follows up with HPC parks in Kitzingen and Herleshausen

BaWü energy provider begins construction of fast-charging parks on the A71 and A4 and relies on a modular concept that can be expanded as e-mobility ramps up.

The energy supplier from Baden-Württemberg is rapidly advancing the expansion of its fast-charging network and has begun construction work in Bad Kissingen-Oerlenbach in Bavaria on the A 71 and in Herleshausen in Hesse on the A4. The high-power charging points will, as usual, offer up to 350 kW of power. Depending on the vehicle, a range of up to 400 kilometers can be charged in the battery within 20 minutes. Initially, both locations will each have eight fast-charging points, which can be expanded as needed thanks to a modular design—to twelve in Bad Kissingen-Oerlenbach and sixteen in Herleshausen. Large canopies covering both parks will, as customary, protect those charging from the weather, and solar panels on the roof will produce green electricity with an initial output of 18.5 kilowatts each.

“The fast-charging parks in Bad Kissingen and Herleshausen are optimally located for electric vehicle drivers on long-distance routes in Bavaria and Hesse, for example, for a trip to the nearby Rhön. At the same time, our nationwide fast-charging network grows by two fast-charging parks,” says Timo Sillober, Chief Sales and Operations Officer.

Last year's projects included the company's largest charging park at the Kamener Kreuz with 52 fast-charging points. The HPC network is also expanding in city centers and on the parking lots of numerous retail chains, currently boasting over 650 locations across Germany. By 2025, EnBW aims to operate 2,500 fast-charging locations in Germany—equivalent to the number of gas stations the major oil companies have in their networks in Germany. To achieve this goal, the publicly traded company, in which the state of Baden-Württemberg also has a stake, invests 100 million euros annually.
