The Karlsruhe energy provider EnBW has now prematurely reached its expansion target of 6,000 fast-charging points throughout Germany. Fast charging of electric cars is indispensable not only on long journeys but also in everyday life. This enables those without their own wallbox to drive electrically. Therefore, the proportion of fast chargers has grown rapidly in recent years. Overall, the nationwide charging network is developing significantly faster than the vehicle market, the company notes.

"We have achieved our goal and have installed more than 1,000 new fast charging points since July of this year. This is the strongest half-year yet since the commissioning of our first fast charger at the end of 2016 on the A8 near Stuttgart," says EnBW Sales Board Member Dirk Güsewell.

According to the provider, based on the utilization rate, the charging infrastructure in Germany could support six times more electric cars. At EnBW alone, there is now a fast-charging station within a radius of no more than 50 kilometers. The network will be further densified in the coming years.
