Emons becomes part of disposal network for battery recycling

The logistics company Emons is participating in E.Punkt, a logistics and disposal network aimed at ensuring the professional and environmentally sound disposal of lithium-ion batteries. It covers the entire battery disposal chain - from packaging to transportation to recycling.

Among the founding members of E.Punkt, besides Emons, are the waste disposal network Logex, the recycling company Re.Lion.Bat, and Stena Recycling. According to a press release, the partners and their core competencies cover all steps that a lithium-ion battery goes through during proper and environmentally friendly disposal: from the point of origin to the black mass. E.Punkt takes over the organization of proper and environmentally friendly disposal.

Everybody does what they do best, the founders have formulated as one of their guiding principles. Emons maintains a container pool for the transport of critical batteries. Within 24 hours, the appropriate container can be provided at the collection point via the Emons freight network.

The packaged batteries are then - in the first step nationwide - safely transported to the Discharging & Dismantling Centers. There, the used batteries are discharged and dismantled, significantly reducing the fire hazard posed by the batteries.
