EMIL: Largest On-Demand E-Shuttle Service Launches in Taunusstein
Deutsche Bahn and the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) have announced the launch of Germany's largest on-demand service in Taunusstein, Hesse. This service is to be linked with the RMV booking app. The initiative will begin in early August with electric shuttles named “EMIL” in the ten districts of Taunusstein. The algorithm of the RMV booking app is designed to calculate the optimal route for multiple passengers with different destinations. In the future, the service aims to be established in other cities.
At the launch event next Friday, Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) and Hesse's Transport Minister Tarek Al-Wazir (Greens) will explain in video messages the importance of on-demand services for the mobility of the future. On-site, the first EMIL shuttle of the Rheingau-Taunus Transport Company and the innovative booking app developed by DB subsidiary ioki will be presented by Günter F. Döring, Head of Transport for the Rheingau-Taunus district and member of the RMV supervisory board, RMV Managing Director Prof. Knut Ringat, Thomas Brunke, Managing Director of the Rheingau-Taunus Transport Company, Taunusstein Mayor Sandro Zehner, and Dr. Michael Barillère-Scholz, Managing Director of ioki.
