Elvah and Axa secure e-mobilists in case of a breakdown

For breakdowns, accidents, or vandalism, you can now get coverage from the charging service, including towing to the next station. The higher rate includes a replacement vehicle. Further cooperation with Fraugster aims to mitigate payment risks.

The Berlin-based charging app provider elvah has now entered into a partnership with AXA Partners Germany, where immediate assistance is included in the new M and L charging rates. If drivers are stranded with their vehicle, roadside assistance will ensure continued travel. The same applies after an accident or in cases of vandalism. If it is not possible to restore the vehicle's operability at the site of damage, the insurer promises to arrange for the vehicle to be towed to the nearest suitable workshop and to cover the resulting costs. Even if the vehicle is left stranded due to an empty battery without fault, continued travel will be ensured by having the tow truck head to the nearest charging station within an 80-kilometer radius and additionally ensuring the start of the charging process, the start-up further promotes.

“With the new service, we are addressing one of the biggest concerns of those switching to electric mobility – range anxiety. With elvah, their continued journey is always guaranteed,” promotes Gowrynath Sivaganeshamoorthy, CEO and co-founder of elvah for the new offering.

In addition to immediate assistance, the L-rate offers the option to secure continued travel through so-called mobility services. This includes a replacement vehicle organized by the insurance partner, as well as coverage for travel and accommodation costs. Expenses for retrieving or returning the vehicle are also covered if it could not be made operational again by the following day and is more than 50 kilometers away from the rightful owner's residence, specifies the provider.

New Tariff Structure with Energy Account

The M-rate is available for 50 euros, and the L-rate for 100 euros per month, both cancellable on a monthly basis. In the newly launched tariff structure, “M” credits 90 kWh monthly to the so-called energy account, while “L” credits 180 kWh. The charging capacity does not expire but accumulates. Additionally, access to the app is included, featuring the so-called Score, which is meant to independently assess the quality of charging stations. The services of immediate assistance and mobility services will also be directly accessible via the app in the future. Initially, a quick access to AXA Partners will be ensured.

In the Background: Fraugster Secures Payment Risk

New to the Berlin start-up is also a collaboration with the payment processing specialist Fraugster for a "comprehensive managed service risk solution," as the company states. The collaboration enables elvah access to compliance, chargeback protection, risk management solutions, and creditworthiness assessments through an AI platform and integration. Fraugster supports the charging service in detecting fraud, identity theft, and abuse by enriching AI data for precise real-time decisions through a single integration to protect against fraud and improve customer experience and revenue, the provider further outlines.
