ElringKlinger receives major BMW order for cell contact systems
The automotive supplier ElringKlinger from Dettingen has received a high-volume series production contract with a multi-year duration. The company will supply the BMW Group with cell contact systems for the new series of electric models of their NEW CLASS.
"We are very pleased with this order, and it is another milestone on ElringKlinger's path to transformation. It contributes to achieving a turnover of more than 3 billion euros by 2030. Orders like this in our strategic future fields of electromobility and lightweight construction will enable us to continue to grow profitably until the end of the decade," commented Stefan Wolf, CEO of ElringKlinger AG.
With this order, the E-Mobility business unit has secured another high-volume series nomination for battery components. Jürgen Weingärtner, Senior Vice President Electric Drive and Battery Technology, adds that they meet the highest standards of technology and quality with the cell contact systems.
"Especially because the development and production process for cell contact systems is based on ElringKlinger's core capabilities, it enables a high value-added share within the company. Overall, the order underscores ElringKlinger's high competence in battery technology," said Weingärtner.
Cell contact systems are part of the Swabians' broad product portfolio for the next generation of mobility and have been mass-produced for over ten years. They are precisely tailored to customer requirements and are mounted on the cell network. Besides the functional tasks of voltage tapping, they also include voltage and temperature sensors, thus convincing with a high degree of integration.
The series production of the cell contact systems takes place on fully automated systems and is set up according to the latest standards. The European production start of the order is scheduled for 2025 in Neuffen, Baden-Württemberg. Subsequently, production and delivery for the Asian market will begin. By the start, ElringKlinger will invest an amount in the double-digit million-euro range in new production facilities and infrastructure measures.
