ElringKlinger: Major Order for Battery Components

The Swabian supplier and component specialist ElringKlinger AG has been awarded a major contract for cell contact systems, which will supply the German plant of a global battery manufacturer starting in the first half of 2022. This manufacturer, in turn, produces the battery systems for the series platform of an unnamed German premium vehicle manufacturer, as further stated. The contract has a total volume in the mid three-digit million-euro range and runs for around nine years. Series production at the Neuffen site is expected to begin within the next fifteen months.

"This contract is another important step for ElringKlinger in the course of the transformation and underscores our competence as a leading supplier of battery components," commented Stefan Wolf, CEO of ElringKlinger AG.

He expressed his pleasure that a global battery manufacturer has chosen the cell contact systems and sees this as a confirmation of the decision to focus on future technologies at an early stage.

The supplier has been producing battery components such as cell contact systems in series for nearly ten years. These are each tailored to the customer and can be directly mounted and welded onto the cell assembly, as outlined. The systems consist of a plastic carrier frame that houses the cell connectors and ensures integrability in all tolerance layers. The necessary voltage and temperature sensors are already included, and the monitoring electronics can also be integrated. In addition to components, the company also has powerful modules in both prismatic and cylindrical designs, as well as complete battery systems in its portfolio. Initial series orders are currently in the pre-production phase, the Dettingen component specialist further announced.
