The Chinese e-scooter pioneer NIU Technologies has unveiled a significant expansion of its range at the EICMA trade fair in Milan (November 7-12). New to the market are the electric dirt bike XQi3 and the light electric moped SQi. Additionally, the manufacturer announces the sale date of the long-awaited electric motorcycle RQi and introduces the NIUswap battery swap technology, which will be used in the new electric scooters F600 and F650, offering versatile applications, including in the B2B and sharing segments.

Light Moped with a Large Range: SQi

The NIU SQi aims to redefine the modern light moped and set new standards. The unibody frame made from die-cast metal eliminates the usual welding seams, combining ease of use with a straightforward form and function, as promised by the manufacturer. With a top speed of up to 45 km/h and a range of 95 km, the SQi differentiates itself from the competition and enables smooth progress in city traffic. The e-moped will be available in European and German flagship stores and from dealers in 2024.

Buzz Off: Finally, an Affordable E-Motorcycle

With the NIU RQi, the company aims to present a fully electric city motorcycle that combines sportiness, modern design, and intelligent features. The two removable 72V-36Ah batteries, each weighing 23 kilos, deliver up to 18,000 W and enable up to 110 km/h with the dual-battery version, and 75 km/h top speed with the single battery, along with a range of 95 to 105 kilometers. An ABS braking system in the 17-inch wheels, integrated traction control, and built-in front and rear cameras with a collision detection system bring the 186-kilo empty weight e-motorcycle up to safety standards, while a 7,500-watt mid-mounted motor gets the bike moving quickly. A total weight of up to 336 kilos is permitted. The motorcycle is equipped with keyless Bluetooth unlocking, GPS tracking and navigation, and over-the-air updates. A fast charger can refill the single battery in four hours or both batteries in seven hours. The RQi will be available from the first quarter of 2024 at a starting price of 7,999 euros in flagship stores and from dealers.

Quiet and Emission-Free on Terrain and Road: Dirtbike XQ3i

With the street-legal and off-road capable electric dirt bike NIU XQi3, the Chinese set another accent. The powerful 72V32Ah LG lithium-ion battery delivers up to 8,000 Wh, and an ultra-boost function provides an additional power boost when needed. The KKE suspension with adjustable front and rear forks is designed to handle tight turns, jumps, and obstacles effortlessly, offering controlled, safe, and comfortable riding. 19-inch off-road tires and powerful disc brakes (front: 230 mm, rear: 203 mm) ensure traction and superior braking power.

The bike's app ensures contemporary connectivity. Key features include a lap timer, map tracking, and smartphone connectivity. Calls can be answered with a simple click on the display. The E-bike is DOT and EC certified for Europe, equipped with a license plate holder, lighting, indicators, and side mirrors. It offers a range of up to 90 km on a single charge and is compatible with all European L1e motorcycle licenses. It will be available in two versions, with street-legal approval (XQi3 Street) and as an off-road version (XQi3 Wild). Colors include purple, white, yellow, and black, with stickers for personalization included. Both versions will be available in Europe from May 2024, starting at 5,999 euros.

Battery Swap Technology and E-Scooter F600/F650

Also newly introduced is the NIUswap battery swap station, aimed at service and sharing providers as well as companies that maintain or need an e-scooter fleet. Batteries are supposed to be swappable in seconds, reducing downtime for recharging. Flexible battery subscriptions can also lower acquisition costs. A battery swap station can be set up anywhere there is an electrical outlet. It is accessible 24/7, low-maintenance, and easy to use, according to the promise.

The new E-scooter F600 is compatible with the battery station, comes with two replaceable 72V-20Ah batteries, and can reach speeds of up to 70 km/h, with a range of 80 km and a maximum power of 3000 W. A large, lockable seat compartment offers more secure storage space than before. The F650 E-scooter, which is currently not compatible with the exchange station, will be available in Sport and Pro versions and will reach a top speed of up to 95 km/h with two 72V28Ah batteries and a 5000W motor. The E-scooters will be available in Germany in 2024 at prices starting from 3,499 euros.

"With the launch of the XQi3 dirt bike, we are offering young and adventurous riders in the city and off-road just the right vehicle. Our passion for mobility and innovation is further reflected in the lightweight SQi moped and the high-performance city motorcycle RQi. We aim to provide a unique riding experience for both urban commuters and adventurers. The groundbreaking NIUswap battery-swapping technology and the E-scooters F600 and F650 also open new opportunities for businesses and riders, ushering in a transformative era of mobility," advertises Yan Li, CEO of NIU Technologies.
