Eicma 2021: Silence Nanocar S04 - Between Seat Mii and Mó
The red ring on the side reveals its origin: The 2.33-meter short Nanocar S04 is indirectly related to the scooters from Seat's mobility subsidiary Mó. The Nanocar S04 is offered in two performance levels. As a vehicle for the "large" light vehicle category L7e, the two-seater is equipped with a 14 kW (19 hp) motor and reaches speeds of up to 90 km/h. Two trolley-swappable batteries, already known from the scooters, provide a total capacity of 11.2 kilowatt-hours, which should bring the microcar up to 150 kilometers, although realistically more like 100 plus or minus x might remain.
Especially important for Southern Europe: The 45 km/h "moped" version. It can be driven from the age of 15, and in some countries, drivers don't even need a license. It offers 6 kW (8 hp) and a battery that provides a range of around 50 to 75 kilometers. The vehicles are equipped as standard with electric windows, a phone holder, and a Bluetooth radio.
They thereby position themselves with versions and performance between the many other newcomers from Opel, Tazzari, Microlino, and Co. This also applies to the prices, which are expected to start at around 7,500 euros before taxes.
What does this mean?
It will be exciting to see how the microcar segment develops, because in the city, it is definitely a more sensible and ecologically correct mode of transportation for single drivers than a two-ton SUV, provided that cycling is too strenuous, and public transport is too unattractive.
