EFA-S: Electric van achieves 2.5-ton towing capacity

The new, Dekra-certified trailer hitch allows a total weight of up to six tons for EFA-S electric transporters. Those who order now will also receive unused subsidies for 2021.

EFA-S, specialist in new and converted commercial vehicles with electric drive, is now equipping its E46 series vans with a factory-installed tow hitch upon request. This is approved for trailer loads of up to 2.5 tons. Currently, in the electric van market, trailer loads of less than one ton are generally offered, says Bastian Beutel, Managing Director of EFA-S.

“Up until now, we have already installed hitches that were designed for a towing weight of 1.5 tons. But now we can even offer more than 50 percent additional trailer load.”

Overall, the towing vehicle and trailer are approved for a total mass of up to six tons. The new trailer hitch, which EFA-S uses for higher towing weights, was certified by the expert organization Dekra.

"Thanks to the high torque of our electric motors of 730 Newton meters and our powerful standard batteries with 80 kWh, the EFA-S46 has enormous power and sufficient range even with a trailer," says Beutel.

The conversion specialist offers its customers an extra treat: those who decide quickly and order a new EFA-S transporter can secure state subsidies from 2021. The company says this can be up to 30,000 euros per vehicle.

"Together with our leasing partner, we were able to secure subsidies for a contingent of around 20 vehicles that had not yet been called up," explains Beutel. "The subsidies are already included in the monthly leasing rates so that customers immediately know what fixed costs they will have after deducting the subsidy."

According to EFA-S, the delivery of vehicles ordered in December is still possible in the first quarter of 2022.

What does this mean?

Electrically, the Russian Gazelle is now also picking up speed in many export markets - with lots of torque and strong batteries.
