Econ solutions offers load management for charging systems
Offering charging stations for electric vehicles is increasingly becoming a factor with which companies, hotels, restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals, and infrastructure facilities can enhance the satisfaction of employees and visitors, or attract and retain customers. However, the additional consumers in the power grid can cause expensive load peaks, posing an incalculable cost risk.
With the charging load management solution from econ solutions, such load peaks can be avoided. Econ solutions offers solutions for effective operational energy management for industry and commerce, machine and plant engineering, as well as energy providers and energy service providers. According to the company, currently more than 400 companies rely on the Econ software solution for their operational energy management, allowing the pros to acquire extensive experience. The Munich-based company was founded in 2010 as a subsidiary of the internationally active Polytrack-Tech-Group and has belonged to the Mannheim-based MVV Group since 2017. The Bavarians now serve large corporations such as BASF, Continental, Unilever, ZF TRW, or the design hotel aquaTurm. The product range includes the econ3 software, the econ sens3 power and performance measuring device, as well as other components for automated energy data collection, in addition to services such as technical consulting and support for system design and implementation. All products are manufacturer-independent and flexibly deployable. Thanks to quick installation and intuitive operation, they are supposed to ensure a steep learning curve and results within the shortest time. The software operates manufacturer-independently with almost all charging infrastructures and wall chargers. It also integrates other consumers as well as the self-generation and energy storage of the entire object (e.g., companies, hotels, clinics) into the charging load management.
The core of the newly presented solution is the load management system “econ peak.” It not only monitors the load management of electric vehicle charging processes but also optimizes them by including the entire object with other consumers and producers (e.g., photovoltaic system, combined heat and power plant) as well as energy storage. On this basis, econ peak dynamically regulates charging stations up or down. Users can also set additional parameters for individual consumers, such as priorities or minimum and maximum on and off times. This way, econ peak ensures a consistent load profile, reducing energy costs and increasing supply security. Econ peak can be used with practically all common charging stations and wall chargers from various manufacturers.
For full transparency regarding the energy consumption of the entire facility on one platform, econ peak can be connected to the leading energy monitoring solution, econ4 from econ solutions. This enables systematic energy management, thereby increasing energy efficiency and optimizing energy costs. The solutions for load management and energy management are eligible for subsidies, and econ solutions supports its customers in applying for funding from the federal and state governments.
Those who want to know more about load and load management, and why it should be a part of a comprehensive e-mobility concept, can find out more in the free webinar. On May 19, 2020, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Rolf Wagner, Sales Manager of econ solutions, and Lukas Schmitt, Project Developer at Charge+Motion, will also present technical implementation concepts and common use cases and answer questions. Registration will soon be available at https://partner.mvv.de/webinare. Here, interested parties will also find numerous other webinars on topics related to energy.
What does this mean?
By now, comprehensive load management has become essential for fleets and companies in the realm of electromobility. Mannheim-based MVV, through its subsidiary Econ Solutions, offers a free introductory seminar and addresses the avoidance of peak loads.
