E-scooter: Voi reaches 100 million rides in Germany

The Swedish e-scooter provider Voi has reached a significant milestone: 100 million rides in Germany. Voi was one of the first providers in Europe to offer its coral-colored e-scooters for rent in 2019. About five years and 100 million rides later, the Swedish company has accumulated numerous records and some curiosities:

• The Kilometer King: The most dedicated user is from Stuttgart and has completed an incredible 6,240 rides since his first ride on November 17, 2019. That's about 3.7 e-scooter rides per day.
• The E-Scooter Capital: The most Voi rides in absolute numbers have been in Berlin so far: over 21 million rides since June 2019. On a per-user basis, Frankfurt leads the list of the most ride-intensive cities, closely followed by Hanover and Aachen.
• The Explorer: An active user from Berlin has already explored 16 different German cities on Voi scooters. With 30 German locations and a total of over 100 European Voi locations, there are still some destinations left on the bucket list.
• The Longest Ride: The longest ride to date was undertaken by a determined scooter rider on June 29, 2021, in Berlin. Over more than four hours, he covered around 48 km. His journey took him on a large loop through wide parts of the city, from Wedding via Moabit, Mitte, Kreuzberg, and Friedrichshain back through Moabit to Wedding. A user from Hanover treats every scooter ride as a journey: he covered an average of 15 km on each of his over 25 rides.
• The Record Day: With nearly 150,000 rentals in a single day, March 1, 2024, has been the busiest day for Voi in Germany so far. Due to nationwide strikes in public transport, important connections were canceled. Voi e-scooters proved to be real gap-fillers and helped get people to their destinations nonetheless.
• The Record Month: The most ride-intensive month also falls in 2024. In June, Voi enabled significantly more than 3 million rides in Germany. Everything indicates that this record could be broken again in the current month despite fluctuating weather conditions. With the European Football Championship, the demand in Germany has significantly increased.

Germany Chief Bölte: E-Scooter Sharing as a Component of the Mobility Transition

Stephan Bölte, Regional General Manager at Voi, sees the demand figures as evidence of increased acceptance of e-scooters: "100 million rides in Germany alone is enormous. This milestone is proof of the high popularity of micromobility in Germany. We are proud that our e-scooters are now an integral part of everyday life for so many people," he says.

With its sustainable mobility solutions, Voi aims to contribute to reducing car journeys and making cities greener and more livable.

"Shared mobility contributes significantly to reducing dependence on cars," says Bölte, but cautions: "The mobility transition in Germany still has a long way to go. The transport infrastructure is still too heavily focused on cars, while cycling, e-scooters, and other forms of mobility have to fight for every area."

For comparison: The Federal Ministry of Transport estimated the traffic volume of motorized individual traffic in the report "Mobility in Germany 2017" at 147 million routes - daily.
