E.ON: AI Tool Evercharge to Optimize Charging Network Availability

AI is also conquering charging networks and aims to optimize their availability. The new tool is available as an add-on to existing e-mobility systems. Evercharge is designed to evaluate large amounts of data in an easily understandable way. According to the developers, the technology can not only analyze past events but also predict risks or automate service steps.

Construction work and weather are also factored into the analysis

According to E.ON, Evercharge can also detect potential disruptions beyond the operator's control, such as weather or construction sites. Lioudmila Simon, Head of Networked Mobility at E.ON Group Innovation GmbH, explains:

“After developing and conducting an extensive proof-of-work phase, we are proud to publicly offer Evercharge. We are convinced that this product and its AI technology can help the entire industry improve the availability of charging networks and strengthen customer confidence in the switch to electric cars.”

With the newly introduced "Health Index," according to E:ON, operators can see, for example, whether the condition of a charging station is worsening or if a failure is imminent, which could be proactively resolved.

This is made possible by a trained artificial neural network that has been fed with real OCPP data (Open Charge Point Protocol) from over 10,000 charging points and has been in use for months. This means lower operating costs, secured revenues, and a protected image.

What does that mean?

Predictive service is becoming increasingly important for charging networks and points. There are still e-drivers who reach charging points with the last bit of range – only to find that it is not working. This inevitably reflects negatively on the operator. Here, "Evercharge" could significantly ease the situation.
