The e.wave X is a battery-powered electric vehicle for urban areas. According to Ali Vezvaei, Chairman of the Board of Next.e.GO Mobile SE, the aim of the partnership with the Silicon Valley technology company is to implement connected mobility solutions in the new vehicle models of e.GO in order to benefit from the data-driven transformation of urban mobility.

Deep Connected Platform by Sibros

The Deep Connected Platform enables vehicle-wide data management and over-the-air (OTA) software updates. The data collection is intended to provide further insights and thus enable a range of connected and value-enhancing fleet services. The OTA software updates are designed to optimize the customer experience throughout the entire lifecycle of the vehicle. Together, e.GO and Sibros aim to leverage the full potential of connected mobility in urban areas with 360-degree user comfort and an interconnected system of connected services.

"The comprehensive Sibros product suite for connected vehicles offers automakers data-driven insights to make informed decisions while accelerating their efforts to optimize the vehicle and user-friendliness," said Hemant Sikaria, CEO of Sibros, adding: "Innovative companies like e.GO use Sibros' comprehensive and secure Vehicle-to-Cloud functions to accelerate their development and position themselves at the forefront of the industry. As a leading company in the field of connected vehicle technology, we look forward to deploying our award-winning Deep Connected Platform in the e.wave X and further expanding our strategic partnership in the coming years to rethink connected and sustainable mobility in urban areas."

Smart Cities and V2X

Connectivity is considered a key factor for mobility in Smart Cities. According to Sikaria, the partnership between e.GO and Sibros created business opportunities for innovative OEMs like e.GO in the field of fleet management, and it also makes it possible to offer a wide range of services throughout the vehicle's lifetime and continually optimize the customer experience.

"The increasing integration of various areas in the automotive sector, including connected vehicles, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, and ultimately autonomous mobility, is expected to support the software-defined connected urban vehicles of the future. That is what excites us so much about this partnership," said Ali Vezvaei, Chairman of the Board of Next.e.GO Mobiel SE. "We want to give our customers the freedom to choose exactly the connected services that suit their needs - be it charging, car sharing, insurance, or connected driving. This way, their e.wave X essentially becomes a smartphone on four wheels."

Google-Cloud for Automotive

The Connected Vehicle solution from Sibros aims to leverage the benefits of various strategic industry partners, including Google Cloud for Automotive, which brings together an entire ecosystem of scalable vehicle-to-cloud solutions for data analytics, visualization, AI, machine learning, and API (Application Programming Interface) management tools. The car manufacturers using the Sibros platform include a continuously growing list of the world's most well-known manufacturers of cars, trucks, buses, two-wheelers, and tractors as well as startups in the electric mobility sector in the passenger car and commercial segment.

Interview in the business magazine Forbes

According to Steve Schwinke, Vice President of Customer Engagement at Sibros, the partnership is the result of a meeting between the two companies earlier this year. In an interview, he explained how this meeting led to the companies understanding each other's goals and capabilities and how they complemented each other.

Indeed, Schwinke said that the "fresh thinking" of the Aachen-based company e.Go helped them understand the benefits of "embedded connectivity," including immediate feedback from a vehicle on issues, instead of waiting for the customer to report them.

"Now you no longer have to wait for the customer to tell you about a design or manufacturing problem," Schwinke said. "You use the technology of the connected vehicle to find out what's going on. They saw that we could record every signal from every electrical component in the vehicle, really understand this kind of digital twin, and use this feedback mechanism to improve their product almost immediately."

Over the air updates

"The Deep Connected Platform helps to distribute the right software updates to the right vehicles across the entire fleet at the optimal time for our customers," said Ali Vezvaei, Chairman of e.Go, in an email response to questions from Forbes.com. "This is of great value for users in hectic city life, as they don't have to stop by a gas station but can retrieve the latest updates where it is most convenient, such as at home."

Vezvaei added that Sibros' technology supports e.Go's goal of offering a fully customizable electric car, where functions can be unlocked at any time during the product lifecycle to help customers "perfectly tailor their vehicle to the given circumstances."

What does that mean?

The e.Go is a charming city runabout; you rarely need more car in the city. The sale of the electric vehicle e.wave X started in October 2022. In addition to its sustainable materials and unique production processes, the e.wave X features a replaceable and recyclable polymer outer shell and smart, interchangeable batteries. And with the cleverness of the American tech forge, the e.wave X is smartly connected. Next.e.Go Mobile even plans to eventually build and sell the e.wave X in the United States.
