E-Bikes: Remanufacturing drives from Brose now available at RA-CO

Brose E-Bike is expanding its remanufacturing program. Starting immediately, bicycle dealers in Germany and Austria can obtain the refurbished drives of the Berlin-based system manufacturer through its long-time distribution partner RA-CO. The cooperation between the two companies has been running since 2020 – now RA-CO has expanded its range of Brose products to include refurbished motors. Previously, customers could choose between a repair and the installation of a new drive. With the decision for a remanufactured drive, they now not only have the opportunity to protect the environment but also to save money.

Saving around 13 kg of CO₂ emissions per drive

By professionally reconditioning predefined components, Brose saves around 13 kg of CO₂ emissions per drive – about a third compared to new production. Additionally, the reman drives are significantly cheaper for bike dealers – and therefore also for Brose users.

Brose started the project in 2021, and since August 2023 it has been implemented serially at the Berlin plant. In the process, the manufacturer of e-bike systems reuses specific parts from returned drives. The components are thoroughly tested and cleaned before being supplemented with missing new parts and assembled into reconditioned motors. According to Brose, these should not be inferior to new products in any way, which is why the manufacturer also offers a two-year warranty here.
