DSV delivers emission-free for dm markets and relies on DAF LF Electric

The Dutch commercial vehicle manufacturer DAF has delivered three electric trucks of the "LF Electric 4x2" series to the logistics company DSV. The vehicles will be used to supply dm drugstores in Bochum and Bonn. As part of the project, the e-trucks cover all dm stores within a radius of 120 kilometers around Bochum as well as 15 stores in Bonn from Weilerswist.

"Together with our partner DSV, we are continuously working on a responsible and sustainable supply chain. By expanding the e-truck fleet in North Rhine-Westphalia, we are strengthening our commitment to future-proof transport logistics and are pleased to now be able to supply dm stores in Bochum emission-free beyond the Bonn urban area," said Christian Bodi, dm Managing Director responsible for logistics.

The initiative is part of a comprehensive sustainability strategy pursued jointly by DSV and dm. The goal is to make logistics, especially in urban areas, more sustainable. For DSV, this step marks the first use of electric trucks in the Ruhr area in cooperation with dm, and it is also the first time that DSV has relied on electric trucks from DAF.

This is the perfect use for the LF vehicles, which, in addition to electric power and range, offer further advantages in urban areas due to their maneuverability and all-around visibility. The delivered DAF electric trucks are characterized by their LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery technology, which avoids rare earths or conflict minerals except for lithium and is considered highly fire-resistant. According to the manufacturer, the vehicles offer a battery capacity of 282 kWh gross (254 kWh net), a maximum charging power of 150 kW, and a range of 280 kilometers. Additionally, they are compatible with conventional wall boxes that can deliver up to 22 kW of AC power. These charging options make the vehicles rechargeable overnight, making them ideal for urban and regional distribution.

Electric Trucks in Series

DAF plans to produce an electrified successor generation of the LF Electric series, including the XB Electric, XD Electric, and XF Electric models, at its plants in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Leyland (UK). These models are expected to go into series production in the near future.
