DS Automobiles integrates ChatGPT

The integration of Artificial Intelligence is expected to provide a "revolutionary conversational experience with your own vehicle" according to DS, enabling travelers to access a vast pool of information. Through ChatGPT, the DS Iris System will increasingly become the digital assistant on board, capable of performing a wide range of tasks.

ChatGPT utilizes human text input as its original chat application to create a natural and fluid dialogue with the human user. By automatically learning from massive data sets, ChatGPT is expected to be capable of answering an impressive variety of questions and providing accurate and relevant information.

From now on, the entire knowledge base of ChatGPT can be accessed via the DS Iris System, which is available for all models in the DS 3, DS 4, DS 7, and DS 9 series. The voice-based use of ChatGPT is made possible through the integration of "SoundHound AI powered by ChatGPT API" software into the DS Iris System.

DS Hopes for New Communication with the Car

DS hopes to achieve a completely new dimension of interaction: ChatGPT is, for example, capable of providing information on the most beautiful cultural sights at the destination of a journey upon request, listing the works exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris, inventing a quiz on any topic, or even generating a story for children to entertain them during a trip.

The DS Iris System is activated by the voice command "OK IRIS" or the corresponding button on the steering wheel. Voice interaction with ChatGPT then starts safely, without taking eyes off the road or hands off the wheel. Yves Bonnefont, Chief Software Officer of Stellantis, comments:

The ability to interact is certainly one of the outstanding achievements with which Artificial Intelligence has impressed in recent years. Since ChatGPT has become accessible, we have been working on integrating it into our own systems. We are proud to be the first to offer this innovation in Europe. With this, we fulfill a strategic priority adopted by the Stellantis Group as part of the 'Dare Forward 2030' plan."

Attention: ChatGPT Will Not Be Free

 ChatGPT will initially be offered for free for a six-month pilot phase. The function is accessible in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy in the respective national languages. The offer is initially valid for the first 20,000 customer applications in the participating countries during the test phase. Registration must be completed between October 19, 2023, and February 29, 2024. After registration, "SoundHound AI powered by ChatGPT API" can be activated and will be available through an Over-the-Air update for the appropriate vehicles, provided they are equipped with the DS Iris System and Connected Navigation is activated.
