DHL: Electric Aircrafts for the Fleet Network
A total of eight minutes was the flight duration of the Alice aircraft from Eviation Aircraft during its maiden flight. It took off on September 28, 2022, in Moses Lake, Washington, USA, and reached an altitude of 3,500 feet, which corresponds to approximately 1,100 meters. According to DHL, it is the first all-electric commuter aircraft. The express service company has ordered a total of twelve e-cargo planes. This is intended to electrify DHL Express’s global fleet network, according to the company.
"We congratulate Eviation on the successful first flight of Alice! The successful maiden flight confirms our belief that the era of sustainable aviation has begun," said John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, adding: "With the order of twelve Alice E-Cargo aircraft, we are investing in our overall goal of net-zero emissions logistics. The range and capacity of Alice make it a unique sustainable solution for our global air network."
According to Pearson, the deployment of the electric aircraft supports the effort to make a significant contribution to reducing the carbon footprint and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
