Despite the semiconductor crisis: Opel can deliver E-models

According to Opel, “customers in Germany can currently choose from more than 2,000 battery-electric vehicles with the lightning bolt at Opel dealers on site” – this applies to the entire portfolio from Corsa-e to Mokka-e as well as Combo-e Life and Vivaro-e. However, this only refers to stock or dealer vehicles, which suggests that Opel has discreetly produced in advance here.

The situation is different if you want to configure and order your very own desired electric vehicle: Then, according to Opel, the delivery times are “an average of 20 weeks” and are also “dependent on the model, timing, and economic conditions.” This means roughly five months, more plus than minus x – a period currently cited by other manufacturers as well. According to its own information, Opel is primarily directing the available, currently scarce chips on the world market into its electric vehicles. Opel Germany boss Andreas Marx explains:

“Opel customers can rely on us to continue to do everything necessary to keep delivery times as short as possible for these models.”

Accordingly, Opel is also focusing on electric models during the classic “Grill Weeks” until February 13, 2022. By mid-year, a total of eleven Blitz models are to be electrified. From 2028, Opel will sell exclusively battery-electric vehicles in Europe.

What does this mean?

Opel is using the tailwind, which especially Corsa and Mokka currently have, to push the electric vehicles here. In fact, the ability to deliver has become a crucial argument for or against a model for many. Especially since some vehicles are currently disappearing completely from configurators and order lists from time to time.
