Dekra helps with the digital recording of accident damage
After several years of partnership, the expert organization Dekra acquired a minority stake in the Swiss company Spearhead AG on July 30, 2021. Spearhead offers systems for the completely digital processing of accident claims to insurance companies as well as to fleet operators such as taxi and rental car businesses.
The digital processing starts at the accident site with the initial damage report. This report is created by Spearhead and made available to the customer. Insurance claims handlers are then able to get a "qualified initial assessment" of the extent of the damage, the size of the affected area, and the expected repair costs in a short time. The basis for this assessment comes from data collected in the vehicle related to the accident, which is analyzed using artificial intelligence and cross-referenced with a database of real accident damage and expert reports. A current vehicle valuation is also factored in.
If the vehicle does not yet have telematics hardware, the system provides a questionnaire through which someone without vehicle know-how can also quickly, easily, and accurately record the damage. The damage pattern determined this way is then used for damage analysis just like one determined through telematics.
What does this mean?
Telematics and digitalization not only help with route planning but also with accidents.
