The commercial vehicle manufacturer DAF is delivering five fully-electric trucks of the type "CF Electric" to Amazon UK. The vehicles, with a total train weight of 37 tonnes, complement Amazon's delivery fleet and are the first battery-electric trucks used for medium-distance routes that Amazon operates in Europe. According to the manufacturer, the CF Electric covers up to 500 kilometers per day. Electrifying Amazon's fleet is part of Amazon's "Shipment Zero" goal. By 2030, 50 percent of all deliveries should be CO2-neutral, and by 2040, the company aims to be fully decarbonized. The five newly acquired vehicles are replacing diesel trucks.

"We are pleased to contribute to Amazon's sustainability with the DAF CF Electric and to support the company's commitment to the Climate Pledge," said Eelco van Veen, Director Fleet Sales at DAF Trucks.

The DAF CF Electric is an important step on the way to emission-free distribution transport, van Veen continued. It was developed in response to the growing demand for better air quality and lower CO2 emissions in the transport sector.

The DAF CF Electric is available as a 4x2 tractor unit (gross combination weight: 37 tons) and a 6x2 chassis (gross combination weight: 28 tons) with a steered trailing axle for maximum maneuverability. The electric motor with 210 kW (240 kW peak power) draws its power from a 350-kWh battery (315 kWh effective capacity). Full charging takes approximately 75 minutes at a charging station with a capacity of 250 kW.
