Contract awarded to CleverShuttle – the railway subsidiary has won the Europe-wide tender of the Kreisverkehrsgesellschaft Offenbach mbH (kvgOF) and Hanauer Straßenbahn GmbH (HSB) for further on-demand services in the Offenbach district and the city of Hanau and is now responsible for further expansion. According to CleverShuttle, the contracts for the pilot projects will run until the end of 2024. CleverShuttle already operates the established on-demand service “kvgOF Hopper” in the eastern part of the district. kvgOF will expand this on-demand service from summer 2022 to six more municipalities in the Offenbach district: Heusenstamm, Obertshausen, Mühlheim, Langen, Egelsbach, and Rödermark.

“I am very pleased that further passengers will now be able to enjoy the comfortable and flexible public transport service kvgOF Hopper. We hope that the Hopper will establish itself as successfully as it has in the eastern district. With CleverShuttle, we have a reliable and experienced partner at our side,” said Andreas Maatz, Managing Director of kvgOF.

Hanauer Straßenbahn GmbH (HSB) also wants to improve and sensibly complement the existing public transport service. Starting in summer, HSB will launch its on-demand service in the two districts of Klein-Auheim and Großauheim for the first time.

“The new Hanau on-demand service ... helps attract new target groups, especially in leisure and shopping transport as well as medical visits,” said Thomas Morlock, City Councilman and Chairman of the HSB Supervisory Board.

37 eVito Tourers complement public transport electrically

The largest electric on-demand fleet in Germany currently comprises a total of 37 eVito Tourers – 34 in the Offenbach district and three in Hanau. They offer space for six passengers each. According to CleverShuttle, one electric vehicle per municipality or district is barrier-free and designed for the transport of wheelchair users. The range per “tank fill” is around 400 km, according to the railway subsidiary.
