City Transformer CT-2: Second Round for the Foldable City EV

The city electric vehicle is set to go into production and will launch in mid-September in Turin. It will be available as a two-seater and a cargo version, with up to 450 liters of trunk space, an LFP battery, and a range of up to 180 kilometers. The highlight is the width-flexible chassis, which can slim down the 2.5-meter microcar from 1.3 meters to one meter.

In mid-September, the next version of the electrically powered quad City Transformer with variable track width is to be officially presented in Turin during the opening day of the "Salone Auto Torino." Developed in collaboration with the Turin-based company CeComp, the CT-2 is to be produced in Piedmont and distributed from there to the main European markets. The two-seater electric vehicle can change its width to adapt to different traffic conditions. The lightweight electric vehicle is 2.5 meters long, has a distinctive design, a 450-liter cargo space, and car-like comfort and safety features, as the manufacturer promises. Thanks to the special chassis with variable track width, it can stretch its width from 1.0 m in the city configuration, which allows it to move easily on the narrowest streets and park in spaces reserved for motorcycles, to 1.3 m in the performance configuration, which then guarantees greater stability at higher speeds.

Folded together, the CT-2 reaches a speed of 40 km/h, and in full width, 90 km/h. The energy for propulsion is provided by an LFP battery, which is supposed to enable a range of up to 180 kilometers. It will be available in a passenger version with seats arranged in a row and in a commercial cargo variant as a single-seater with a large rear compartment. The vehicle was developed by a group of Israeli engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs who patented the frame for a four-wheeled vehicle.

As an evolution of the predecessor model CT-1, which received a lot of attention, the CT-2 is now ready for mass production. The choice of production in Piedmont is no coincidence: one of City Transformer's most important partner companies, CeComp, is located here, which has contributed to the development of the vehicle and brought it to production readiness. The commercial debut in the major European markets is then scheduled for the last quarter of 2026. To complete the initiative, City Transformer has engaged in dialogue with Ceipiemonte, Centro Estero per l'Internazionalizzazione, a local investment and export agency whose services are specifically aimed at bringing foreign companies to the region. This will be deepened in a meeting with companies, institutions, and potential investors.
