City Tour Munich: DinnerHopping in an Electric Vintage Bus

An old, carefully restored American school bus in its typical yellow livery has been a popular sight on Munich's streets for many years. It is used by the traditional company Fragner from Erding for a very special city tour offer, the so-called DinnerHopping.

Locals and guests can not only admire the most beautiful spots of the Bavarian capital from the bus window during the ride in the historic Crown Supercoach, but are also treated to various menus of their choice. Live music or magical tricks can also be booked.

The family business Fragner has been around for over 70 years and is now run by brothers Christian and Peter Fragner in the third generation. The two have dedicated themselves to the preservation of historic vehicles and combine “tradition with modern innovations to offer their customers unique tours and unforgettable experiences.”

Focus on Climate – Tradition Meets Modernity

The Fragner brothers find it important to show that sustainable mobility with vintage buses does not have to be a contradiction. With their commitment, they want to demonstrate that it doesn't always have to be a new acquisition, but that the retrofitting of existing vehicles is often the better alternative, as it saves significant raw materials and energy needed for the production of new vehicles. The conversion of the Crown Supercoach vintage bus into an electric bus not only reduces CO2 emissions to zero but also significantly minimizes noise levels during the tours.

“We are proud that we were able to realize this unique project. The eco-friendly transformation of the Crown Supercoach vintage bus shows that tradition and sustainability are not opposites. With our electric bus, we want to offer not only an exclusive DinnerHopping experience in Munich but also demonstrate that the future of mobility can be greener and cleaner. From September, our in-house photovoltaic system will be operational, allowing us to charge three of these buses in one day. I am sure that this will not be the last conversion,” explains Christian Fragner.
