The French automobile manufacturer Citroën has introduced an off-road version of its 48-volt light electric microcar as a concept, which aims to combine driving fun with space and energy efficiency. The so-called My Ami Buggy features wider off-road tires, protective bars at the front and rear, headlight grilles, and modified bumpers. The side silhouette is enhanced by revised fender flares and tubular protective devices at the bottom of the doors. On the roof, the roof rack and spare tire emphasize the adventurous spirit of the concept. The decorative elements are kept in a matte black tone. The LED light bar at the front of the roof is intended to give the concept an "adventurous touch."

The doors of the lightweight electric vehicle, which can reach speeds of up to 45 km/h and has a range of up to 70 kilometers, have been completely removed and replaced with transparent, rainproof tarps that can be raised in bad weather, a nod to the legendary Citroën Méhari. These are equipped with zippers to enclose the passenger compartment. These protective curtains can be removed, rolled up, and stored in special pockets behind the seats. A roof canopy is attached above the windshield, extending from the roof and providing protection against adverse weather conditions. It is intended to provide shade in the summer. The wide “mud” tires on matte gold offset rims are not only for aesthetics but also ensure good road holding and increased stability on all surfaces.

Improved Seat Padding for More Comfort

The model is envisioned in the colors black, khaki, and yellow. The black, inspired by camping equipment, emphasizes the functional and robust character of the vehicle. Many elements of the concept are highlighted by lemon yellow, including the seats, the charging cable, the graphic door attachments, as well as the entire luggage compartment and some accessories. The My Ami Buggy Concept is equipped with new Advanced Comfort seat padding, whose foam thickness has increased from 35 mm in the Ami to 70 mm. By adding memory foam, the seats have become light and soft. They can be easily removed from the shell, are replaceable, and washable. The storage areas can also be removed, serving a function in the passenger compartment but usable for a picnic. The storage compartments on the dashboard, already available for the Ami, have been specially redesigned for the Buggy Concept. Above the storage compartments is a matte gold metal frame designed to prevent items from slipping.

Customized Luggage Range

Additionally, the designers have developed a special luggage range that blends into the vehicle’s interior. The fanny pack is attached to a magnet in the center of the steering wheel and can also be worn on the belt via a loop. A sailor bag with a flap has its own place under the dashboard, in the storage space that accommodates a cabin suitcase in the Ami. It is held in place below by a tubular structure. A storage compartment is also provided at the entry level at seat height, for all kinds of items or a large removable bag, specially designed for this purpose and accessible from the inside.

The side mirrors, which are adjustable thanks to a ball joint integrated into the mounting points, are attached to the door pillars, and are also removable. The cup or bottle holder is located either on the dashboard or in the place that replaces the Ami’s bag holder. The smartphone holder developed for the Ami, located to the right of the driver’s seat, becomes a cylindrical design holder in the Buggy Concept with a tension wheel on the right side that holds the phone in position. A special mount for a camera, which can capture and share the highlights or landscapes of the trip, is equipped with a universal screw that can accommodate all types of devices. For various perspectives, the camera mount can be attached to four anchor points on the vertical frames of the driver and passenger door, the manufacturer further outlines.
