The Munich-based provider of e-charging infrastructure ChargeX is now partnering with SAP Deutschland, leveraging their SAP E-Mobility as a standardized cloud solution for e-mobility. Given the rapid growth of ChargeX and its customer projects, there was a significant need for a reliable and high-quality enterprise software solution with maximum availability, which the provider cites as the reason for this move. Additionally, SAP ensures operations meet all legal requirements based on the highest security standards, making the decision to collaborate an easy one for the Munich start-up.

Simple and Transparent Operation of Charging Points

With the SAP E-Mobility solution, ChargeX and its customers now have the ability to operate charging points easily, transparently, and securely. Following the multi-month migration of the already existing and installed charging points of more than 700 corporate customers with over 5,000 charging points, all charging points are now connected to the SAP E-Mobility backend. The first step for the migration was taken back in 2022 when the Aqueduct charging system was certified by SAP for the SAP E-Mobility backend. This hardware-software certification ensures smooth communication and functionality between the charging point and the backend. Communication and data exchange now takes place entirely with and through the SAP E-Mobility backend.

User Interface Remains the Same for End Customers

The user interface will continue to be the Drop Power Sharing Dashboard and the app, connected via the open SAP E-Mobility Platform Architecture. Thus, the established functionalities for billing and the innovative concept of load management remain unchanged, promises the provider. A significant advantage in the future will be the integration and use of the SAP ecosystem around the SAP E-Mobility solution. As an SAP standard product, the solution enables seamless integration into other existing SAP solutions and thus controls processes such as billing (travel expenses, etc.), cost management, or analyses transparently. Thanks to the integration possibilities of the SAP platform and the planned AI extensions, according to Lukas Bobinger, Head of Digital Services at ChargeX, further comprehensive e-mobility use cases will open up for our customers in the future.

"SAP E-Mobility revolutionizes the area of corporate e-mobility by providing a secure and scalable platform for managing charging infrastructure. This allows e-mobility service providers, like ChargeX, to operate charging infrastructure in a legally compliant manner and seamlessly integrate it into the existing business processes and value chains of their customers," explains Ulrich Scholl, VP E-Mobility at SAP.
