Chargebyte & Switch: Cooperation for Easier Plug&Charge and V2G

The charging communication specialist chargebyte has announced the integration of the unified operating system (OS) "Josev Professional" from Switch for its "Charge Control C". Thanks to the partnership, manufacturers of charging devices for electric vehicles can now bring bidirectional AC and DC charging solutions to market even more easily and quickly. Drivers of electric vehicles would gain more comfort through the support of Plug & Charge, and EV charging networks would benefit financially from the system. With the pre-configured "Josev Professional" on the "Charge Control C", communication standards and protocols such as ISO 15118-2/-20 and OCPP 2.0.1 can be implemented quickly and easily, according to the promise. The software is plug-and-play capable and requires only minimal integration effort. End customers could achieve energy self-sufficiency at home by turning their electric vehicles into "storage batteries on wheels," while companies could monetize their energy storage capacities by feeding energy back into their industrial plants or offices, the provider further advertises.

The intention is to combine software expertise with chargebyte's hardware expertise and enable bidirectional charging based on ISO 15118-20 and OCPP 2.0.1 with V2X extensions for manufacturers of AC and DC charging devices with the embedded solution Josev Professional. This would open up new revenue streams for Charge Point Operators (CPO) worldwide, adds Marc Mültin, founder and managing director of Switch.
