CES 2023: Stellantis goes big
Stellantis is going big again at CES. CEO Carlos Tavares will, at the invitation of CES, elaborate on his company's vision during a keynote speech on Thursday, January 5, in the Ballroom of the Venetian Palazzo. He states:
"We are showcasing the best of our technology at CES. It aims to thrill our customers and combat climate change, the greatest global challenge of today."
And he adds:
"You will see how we are bringing electrified and emission-free powertrains to market, how our software makes mobility simpler and safer, and how sustainability is embedded in all of our decisions. Our ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2038 is our North Star."
The highlights of the keynote presentation include the world premieres of the Peugeot Inception concept study, presented by Peugeot CEO Linda Jackson, and the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept study, presented by Ram CEO Mike Koval. For those who cannot be in Las Vegas, the Stellantis keynote presentation will also be live-streamed. At CES 2023, the Stellantis exhibition will be located in the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Stars: Ram and Peugeot
The Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept is based on the new STLA platform, the “BEV-by-Design architecture” for body-on-frame vehicles – in other words: classic US pickups with a ladder frame. With Ford already having the F-150 Lightning on sale and GM following with the electric Silverado, Ram must also catch up. Jeep is showcasing its 4xe models: The best-selling brand in the Stellantis group (!) will have an electrified variant of 100 percent of its models on the market by 2025 to achieve the brand’s vision: zero off-road emissions and autonomous freedom on trails. Dodge will once again display the Charger Daytona SRT BEV concept: its electric muscle car that provides a glimpse into the electrified future of Dodge. Chrysler will give a preview of the first North American applications of innovative Stellantis connectivity and also show how it plans to offer E-models from 2025: By 2028, its portfolio is expected to be fully battery-electric. For this, we anticipate the sedan based on the Airflow concept, an electric minivan as a successor to the Pacifica, and a third, likely more compact CUV model.
For the first time, Peugeot will be participating in CES with the Inception Concept. Once again featuring a cockpit that reinvents the car experience, redesigns the interior from the ground up, and refines the next generation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit. Fiat will present its "Metaverse Store," the world's first interactive showroom with metaverse technology. An appealing, straightforward brand experience. This is already online and can be seen live at the Microsoft booth at CES.
Additionally, they will be presenting Free2move: The mobility brand of Stellantis offers a multimodal 360-degree platform from a single source, seamlessly adapting to the needs of consumers—whether for private or professional purposes. This agile, scalable, and modular software platform is ready to integrate all future mobility services like micromobility or autonomous transport solutions.
The Stellantis presentation at CES 2023 will take place on January 5, 2023, at 11:00 PM Central European Time. More detailed information regarding press materials for the event and streaming of the presentation will be available at a later time and published on the company's website (www.stellantis.com).
What does this mean?
CES is important for Stellantis because they finally need to define the future of the Chrysler and Dodge brands and showcase the electric Ram. Here, Ford and GM are much more active, and additionally, Korean and Japanese automakers—and prospectively also Vietnamese and Chinese manufacturers—are continually introducing new models. Interestingly, this is the first time Peugeot is making a big appearance in Las Vegas, after the export to the USA was canceled a few years ago.
