CES 2022: Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX - most efficient star-powered car ever!

With the EQXX, Mercedes-Benz wants to show how economical an aerodynamically optimized sedan can be. Interdisciplinary development teams have implemented the study in "record time," which is always much easier with studies than with production models.

If it had been up to Daimler's aerodynamic guru Teddy Woll, he would have just made a droplet without a hood and trunk lid – visually rather difficult to convey. But an exciting story. Which is why the board members Ola Källenius and Markus Schäfer, together with Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener and experts from the development teams, will describe the extraordinary collaboration in detail at CES. From January 5 to 8, 2022, the Vision EQXX will also be the highlight at the Mercedes-Benz booth at CES 2022 in Las Vegas.

The Vision EQXX is part of a comprehensive technology program by Mercedes-Benz, through which the company aims to "overcome technological barriers" and take energy efficiency "to new dimensions." It shows what progress is possible when you rethink the fundamentals. This includes improvements to all components of the state-of-the-art electric driveline as well as the use of lightweight materials and sustainable materials. With a wealth of intelligent efficiency measures and groundbreaking software, Mercedes-Benz is pushing the boundaries of efficiency with the Vision EQXX.

It will be interesting to see how it compares to the solar-equipped, similarly oriented Lightyear One, and what can be transferred to production series.

What does that mean?

Finally efficient! After developing electromobility more along the lines of superlatives or reworked combustion engines, the star brand is now focusing on efficiency this time – making the EQXX one of the vehicle highlights at CES.
