BYD: 10 million electrified cars sold

BYD has announced the delivery of its 10 millionth electrified vehicle – a Denza Z9 – right on time for its 30th anniversary. Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD, gave a keynote speech at the event in Shenzhen, in which he described the remarkable development of the company from a small start-up with only 20 employees to a multinational corporation with nearly one million employees worldwide.

5 million in just 15 months

BYD has thus become the first car manufacturer in the world to reach the milestone of delivering 10 million electric cars and plug-in hybrids. Remarkably, the Chinese company took 15 years to produce the first 5 million electrified units – and the next 5 million followed in just 15 months.

The anniversary vehicle, incidentally, went to Feng Ji, founder and CEO of Game Science and visionary behind the critically acclaimed game “Black Myth: Wukong.”

Investments of 13 billion euros announced

BYD will invest around 13 billion euros in the development of intelligent vehicle technologies, as the company announced simultaneously. This includes integrating artificial intelligence into vehicle systems as well as the comprehensive modernization of the entire vehicle range.
