The US auto giant General Motors has announced that it will transfer its electric BrightDrop commercial vehicles under the Chevrolet brand. With this change, the all-electric delivery vehicles will be incorporated into Chevrolet's extensive sales and service network for commercial vehicles. The vans are expected to offer an estimated range of 272 miles in the city and on the highway, according to GM. By integrating the electric vehicles into Chevrolet's growing EV portfolio, customers will gain access to one of the industry's largest and most comprehensive sales and service networks, enhancing the brand's growth opportunities.

All Chevrolet dealers will therefore have the opportunity to sell BrightDrop transporters if they meet certain electric vehicle requirements. Once certified, participating dealers will be able to service the products and thus optimize uptime for commercial fleet operators, according to the company.

"By incorporating BrightDrop into the Chevrolet product lineup, we combine advanced EV technology with the reliability and widespread availability that only Chevrolet can offer," explains Scott Bell, Vice President of Chevrolet. "This move strengthens our electric vehicle offerings and reaffirms our role as a leading commercial brand, enabling both large and small businesses to get their jobs done."

The GM brand was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2021. In 2023, BrightDrop was integrated into GM Envolve, the company's fleet business that serves thousands of commercial and government customers.

"The Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 and 600 will continue to be equipped with cutting-edge technology to increase efficiency, reduce exhaust emissions, and optimize service and delivery operations," says Sandor Piszar, Vice President, GM Envolve. "The integration into the Chevrolet portfolio will expand its reach and accessibility and provide more customers with additional tools to help them achieve their productivity and carbon neutrality goals."

The vehicle will continue to be produced at the CAMI Assembly Plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.
