Bosch continues to invest in Schwieberdingen. As the site manager Thomas Pauer explained to the Stuttgarter Zeitung, 27 million euros are to be invested in 2018, and another 50 million euros are to be invested in Schwieberdingen from 2019 onwards. In Schwieberdingen, Bosch produces, among other things, high-voltage batteries for electric vehicles. At the beginning of 2018, the company restructured its drivetrains division: they no longer operate based on fuel types, but based on vehicle types. The reason given was that drivetrains in the future are likely to diversify further, and a variety of drivetrain types could be an option for any given vehicle. Another reason for the investment in Schwieberdingen is the innovative strength: since 1968, innovations have repeatedly been developed here. This "tradition" is to be continued with electromobility.

Currently, Bosch employs 6,500 people at the site, which is nearly 1,500 more positions than in 2014. And this is despite the fact that areas such as research and pre-development, as well as startups and generators, have been relocated. Nevertheless, electromobility is becoming more important, which is why it is to be expected that Schwieberdingen will be expanded: Bosch expects that around 20 million hybrid and electric vehicles will be sold worldwide in 2025.

What does that mean?

Bosch is once again or rather continuing to invest in one of its core sites and is firmly expecting an increasing share of electromobility.
